  1. In just a few months this year is coming to a close. So many amazing albums have come out including Arctic Monkey's AM, Lana Del Rey's Unreleased, and MGMT's self titled album. Although my favorite album of the year, so far, would have to be Mosquito by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. With fame, most artists' fourth record end up being bubble gum and shallow but the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have always done a fantastic job of keeping their music fresh yet not losing their iconic indie rock/garage punk sound. Because they may be an acquired taste to some, if you are not a fan yet I would encourage you to listen to their Fever to Tell album and then jump into Mosquito, starting with Always and Sacrilege. In no time you'll be jamming to the album's new electro dub sound while still being able to appreciate their quirky early spirit. Mosquito is definitely a must have record.

I love any genre of music that I can relate to, however, hip hop/rap tends to dominate . I can respect the "realness" hip hop/rap generates, and sometimes you can hear the struggle the artist went through in their music. It's no secret that most ghettos are predominantly African American, and the conditions/hardships tend to generate a very oppressed group of people who feel there is nothing good for them in life. With such environments, hip hop/rap music gives them that shimmer of hope that they use to keep them going. Some people may argue that hip hop/rap is too"raunchy, or foul-mouthed", but I beg to differ. The lyrics are honest in my opinion, and that makes the music more genuine and appreciative.

-Note: Some songs in my list are not for the tender. They have very strong lyrics that some may find uncomfortable. Listen at your own discretion.
